Digiport's Metro Ethernet
Faster, Easier & More Cost Effective
Metro Ethernet is a fiber optic based the replacement product for aging copper based T-1 interconnections. The service increases network performance while decreasing per Mbps network costs enabling customer access to internet based application services and improved technology performance.

Out with Copper & T1s, in with Fiber & Metro Ethernet
With tens of thousands of miles of fiber now laid in South Florida, the majority of businesses from Miami and Fort Lauderdale to West Palm Beach now have easy access to the communication network of the next generation. As quickly as their old telecom service contracts are expiring, companies are replacing outdated service over copper T1s with more cost effective and higher bandwidth services like Metro Ethernet from Digiport.

Digiport, Your Metro Ethernet Provider
With Digiport's Metro Ethernet, your business connects to a tier-one-quality fiber network at Gigabit speeds. It is a network that supports high speed internet access. VPLS over the Wide Area Network, IPTV, and VoIP services at pricing that just wasn't possible with the old T1s. That's up to a gigabit per second of bandwidth to service your company's data needs all coming over a single circuit that uses the same Ethernet protocol and network hardware you are already familiar with on your current local area network.

It Couldn't Be a Wiser Decision or an Easier Upgrade
Terabytes of off-site backup or storage. IPTV. Wide Area VPNs built on gigabit Ethernet. Multi-site IP Telephony / VoIP solutions. These are the data and communication services today's business leaders are taking advantage of because they leverage the abundance of fiber and the metro Ethernet service that runs over it.
Growing companies and growing data needs demand it.

What is the Difference between Metro Ethernet and a T1?
T1 circuits utilize an aging technology that delivers electrical signals over copper wires. This limits the bandwidth to 1.54 Mbps, which forces companies bond together multiple circuits in an effort provide bandwidth adequate for employees to access critical business applications, such as the internet and hosted services. The technology of Metro Ethernet allows signals in the form of light to be sent over a circuit made of glass fiber, increasing data capacity to 1000 Mbps. As the Ethernet protocol over the circuit is the same as your business’, connecting to the circuit is easy and inexpensive compared to a T1 or T3.

Who Should get the Service?
If your company is operating at least a single existing T1, you are a candidate for the service. If you have greater than a single T1, the service will bring down cost of delivery and be providing 3-5 times the performance.
|
How do I know if I can receive the Service?
Most business locations in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm are able to receive this service with some exceptions. Submit your address through the lead portal and we will confirm the availability for you.
|
What levels can I start at?
Fiber circuits begin at 10 Mbps and can be as large as 1000 Mbps per interconnection. There is a copper service also available at 2 Mbps to 8 Mbps, though the 10 Mbps with fiber is the most popular choice.
|
Is it really Ethernet?
The interface is a pure Ethernet handoff no different than the networking in your existing office infrastructure. The service is so easy to install and maintain that once installed, IT directors can move on to more pressing business concerns and help develop technology solutions for increasing profitability rather than maintaining troubleshooting problems.
